I stand behind 'Disgusted's' assertion that Mario's behaviour was 'appalling' and that he exhibited 'incredible ignorance' in his killing of the hammerhead. Anyone who understands the nature of sharks, in particular that of hammerheads, knows that they pose an insignificant threat to humans. 'Scubagirl' has provided some very helpful information about the behaviour of sharks and I can only hope that people such as 'What about the KIDS' take the time to read the information and thereby become better informed.
For your information, Devon Sawyer reports having seen this shark cruising the harbour area at this time of year for at least the past 7 years. That means, even if it was not the same shark, that at least one hammerhead has been cruising the waters of Briland for at least 7 years WITHOUT INCIDENT. For at least 7 years at least one hammerhead shark has peacefully co-existed with locals and visitors alike who have been swimming in the bay. I abhore the thoughtless and ignorant scare-tactics being employed to justify Mario's action. The hammerhead was a danger to no one. For those who think Mario was right in what he did, I ask you to re-consider your opinions in light of the FACTS.
