The Bahamian people, I realize are a mainly Christian people yet I can't help but notice a lot of religious references in the reporting of the election news. Is the idea of seperation of church and state only prevalent in America? I know this may sound offensive but in the Nassau Guardian today (or maybe yesterday) there is an article on the evils of masturbation and I worry that the people of the Bahamas are being fooled to believe as many people the world over that a belief in God will get us all through anything. I believe in God but I don't think his voice is what spoke through the Bahamian people and that is why the PLP won the election! Nor do I believe it is a good idea to teach people that in the age of A.I.D.s and the prevalence of teenage pregnancies that masturbation is addictive and unhealthy. This is on the front page of the newspaper. Someone in the government/media is trying to exert control using the word of God and I don't think it's right. Are there any other prevailing religions in the Bahamas that have a voice? Is there any other newspaper or is the Guardian the only one? Am I the only person who finds this a little odd?
