For the past twenty years I've been living on the Island, its been great living here! But we got some tourist that are filled up with so much non-sense that when we go out anywhere there is the good people separated from the bad people like "GUSTY", I was standing at the bar for 20 minutes and about 6 fresh faces came after me and was servered drinks way quicker and without a sulky face to go with it! I called the lady 6 times and was not servered until she was ready,I felt real bad about it and had to leave early with my friends! I think there is alot of negativity towards natives at these bars and restaurants. As a native here on HARBOUR ISLAND,I am disappointed to see that there is no love for the young people of the island. I am one who goes out and see these type of things happening and it really hurts to be a BAHAMIAN on the Island! And alot of the people from foreign that stay here on the Island in the their big houses are very over protective even when family comes through they get an Idea on how the young people are trouble and that they drink to much , rob,steal and kill. But its not like that here on the Island the natives are looking to make foreign friends abroad so they can come back and say we had a good time here and it was safe while we were there.I am a native and a very smart one and would like to see some love for the young people and have more community meetings especially for the youth of the Island today! Most of the meetings they call are for local government,crime watch and comittee meetings.And nothing is being said about the youth but lock them in jail if their not being what they the elderly folks want them to be. I feel that why the young people are getting into problems is that local government is taking the money and spending the money on their need instead of trying to get a recreational center or a park with security and you can be sure your safe from any bad thigs to come. I feel that if you have alot of youth meetings and support the youth in whatever is needed,like getting them off of drugs instead of telling them that "they'll never be nobody" or "I cant hire you because your on drugs or "I cant have you becasue you are bad news around the island". I am ryan brennen of HARBOUR ISLAND and I got alot of neglect job owners even from my own family like GLENROY ARANAH,I didnt ask him for a job lately but it was before when I first came from school looking for some work and he wouldnt hire me,but I work at the pink sands hotel and things are real better right now because I make good money to hep my mom out and I made enough money to buy my computer to get my message across to these certain set of briland people that wanna keep you down and out in society.But is all good to know that the lord brought me from 20 years to now and lovin' every minute of it!!! The beach is right there and I dont walk through an of the roads to the beach becasue I'm afraid that the home owners are gonna call the police and tell them im tress passing or something. So I dont go at all! But its all good I go aroung the long way to get there.And its worth it because we got the pretty beach n the world in my book I dont know about anybody else. But if you come to harbour island at anytime be nice and youll smell the spice!!!!
