Not so fast, apparently:

Thank you for taking the time to email Cingular Wireless Customer Care
regarding service in the Bahamas.

Batelco is TDMA, the Cingular Ericsson phone is GSM and not compatible to that network. She [the customer service rep in Nassau who told us that Batelco and Cingular were in fact sympatico] must be referring to our TDMA network on the east coast. I did call and left her a message that Cingular operates two networks so she need to finds out if TDMA or GSM before guaranteeing service. We do not have a roaming partner in the Bahamas for GSM coverage. We are still processing the request for unlock codes.

Please visit our web-site at http://www.cingular.com often for the latest
updates and current promotions available. We know you have a choice when it
comes to digital service. We appreciate and thank you for choosing Cingular
Wireless.

I'll post more as I get the information. -- Kimberly
