:
The Romora Bay Club usually hosts a very nice
New Year's Eve dinner and party with fireworks, music, etc.
Did anyone party there? Can't understand why the
hot spots like Gusty's, etc. missed this big chance
to make some coins from the "ready-to-party" gang.
Maybe everybody was a bit burned out by 12/31/01!

So what happened this year? For the past I don't know how many years Valentines has hosted a great New Years party at the marina. This year they did nothing, apart from the normal small-scale Junkanoo parade. Where was the bar? Where was the atmosphere? I, along with many other tourists, spent most of the night riding around on my golf cart trying to find 'the' party for the night. The Vic Hum was the place most of us ended up around midnight, and then Sea Grapes provided the party-to-dawn. Why was Gusty's closed? Why did Hammerheads close so early? This could have been the biggest night of the year for anyone interested in both making a lot of money and providing a place for the islanders and touritst to celebrate. I understand that Valentines is about to be sold, and so that may be the reason why Michael Parks failed to provide the venue for the celebrations (though why he would not want to make alot of money and keep Valentines reputation high is beyond me). Why did Sully close Hammerheads so early? The Harbour Island marina would have been a great place to welcome the new year.
: Get your act together guys. New Year only comes once a year, and you all messed up this year. The island's reputation depends on people like you.
