: Once again this is stark evidence that money can get you what you want, even when it is detrimental to those around you. The owners of Reef Chief tried to buy the boat house and land next to the public ramp by Valentines, but were told they would not be granted permission to move the pre-existing dock there. So they looked elsewhere and chose Anchor House, despite it having inadequate water frontage for their boat.

Probably not, even though the environmental impact will be significant and thus have an effect of all of us living here. Will the Town Council consider whether this is going to open the door to other millionaires wanting to turn Briland into an out-island version of Paradise Island, with the bay-side becoming full of mega-yachts parked outside their third or fourth vacation homes? Probably not.
: Why won't they do anything? Why won't they do what they have been elected to do and preserve the beauty of Briland? At the town meeting they vowed to use the full force of the law to punish those involved with the illegal construction of the bay-side beach on Elle Macphereson's property. Word is they all they did was fine Macphereson $10000. That's pocket-change to these people, and only goes to show that the law only applies to those too poor to buy their way above it. The damage done to the coral rock by the building of the beach is irreversable. The damage done by the Town Council in not punishing the law-breakers is almost as bad. It lets these rich people know that they can do what ever they want here, for a small fee.
: At the town meeting the loudest agreement came to the suggestion that we take Briland back. That we determine what happens to our island. Once again we have shown ourselves to be weak. Once again we have made noise and then done no action. We are going to be responsible for ruining our island, as we are the ones who are letting these people ruin our home.
: Town Councilors, you should be ashamed of yourselves. We elected you to act in the best interests of the community, and you are doing nothing to protect this paradise. You are selling us out to the highest bidder, with no thought for our future generations. Our children will look back at what we have allowed to happen to their island and they will curse us. And rightly so.
