Laura, We live in Bethany Beach, DE and own a home in Eleuthera, the bigger island near Harbor Island. We love Eleuthera, the people are wonderful, it is a beautiful tropical area, but I heavily suggest you visit before considering moving there. There is quite a culture difference from the US and many Americans simply cannot handle the difference. You think Sussex County, known as "Slower Delaware" is quaint, Eleuthera and Harbor Island, offer alot this area had 20 years ago, but your living is dependent on whether the supply boats come in, milk can become a luxury and you need to be able to adapt to a very different pace and way of life. The children are wonderful, and your son will make friends easily, the elementary schools are very good. We'd be glad to talk to you about Eleuthera, just post your e-mail address on the board.
